New Marillion Album available Online

Marillion are about to release a new album called "Happiness is the Road" on October 20. In addition to the official CD release (which you can preorder here) they have also made the entire album available online via P2P.

The band argue that the files will be put online anyway, so they decided to do it themselves. There's a little trick though: to be able to play the WMA files, you have to give them your email address so they can annouce tour dates to you (after all, touring is how bands earn money these days!).

I think that's a pretty good deal, and I downloaded the stuff immediately (I also preordered the CD :-)). Marillion have been innovative in regards to band-fan relations before (conventions, wonderful website, etc.), and this is another step in the right direction ("music 2.0").

Apart from all of this, I have to say the music is really really good on this album! It is their 15th release, and while I have to give it a couple of more listens, I think this (double) album might rate among my favourites.
