Architecture Fundamentals, Pt. 2

So, as promised recently, here's the second part of my the 6-part architecture fundamentals series of screencasts. It deals with "breaking things down" (in the sense of modularization, not destruction :-)).

Keep the feedback coming!

Comments:
Hi Markus,
first of all thank you for the time spent in creating an interesting screencast that is also aestethically pleasing.

Contents: I expected something more deep, or more "hands-on". But maybe the problem is mine, as long as the series is centered on *fundamentals*. Moreover, there are 4 more episodes, so I think I just have to be a little patient.

In any case, I found the episode valuable as it is a good overview of the aspects that should be taken into account when starting to think of a software architecture.

Sound: same annoyance of Part 1. Don't know if you are looking for alternatives. I tried Camstudio (http://camstudio.org/; for a portable version I like http://www.winpenpack.com/main/download.php?view.726): it was just a little try, but the audio was correct. Further, it's GPL.

Hi Umberto,

so did I :-)

But I didn't have the time yet. I am actually planning on adding more details sometime in the future.

right. But they are not necessarily more "hands on".

yes, that's the idea.

yes, same tool, same annoyance :-)

yes, but not for the other parts. They are already recorded :-(

Thanks for your input!

Markus

Hi Markus,

I found your slides entitled "MDSD and Component based development" while surfing into se-radio.net. Maybe that's the kind of "hands-on" I had in mind.

My quest will be complete when I will open my wallet and buy some kind-of-iPod to start listening the podcast (this episode and obviously all the others!) :-)

Just a small note: I found the text "! Modularize" something of counter-intuitive, because it made me think: "this topic is aimed to NOT modularize."

But be aware of the fact that I'm deeply C/C++ influenced.

Thank you again,
Umberto
